Easter Bunnies or Wild Hares? Abstract on Paper

Howdy Honeys!!!

It's spring at the ranch and we have lots of real bunnies hopping all over the fields.  It's so fun to see their little nests here and there.

Here is a Bunny Pair on 12x12 paper.
Yes - abstract... as requested by my SIL.
For me... they are more like "Wild Hares"!!!
But she loves them. Whew!

The paper is:
Elle's Studio, Flowers for You - Shine Collection.

I treated the front and the back of the paper with DecoArt Media Matt Medium. This helps with curling and protects paper.

Using DecoArt Media Misters and dabbing some DecoArt Media Fluid Acrylic... the fun began!

The rabbits were sketched with a Faber Castell Big Brush Pitt Pen.

Using a pencil and then a Dynasty brush/water to activate... the pink sketched lines were enhanced to give a bit of dimension.  Spraying the White Shimmer Mister onto my craft pad, I went over the top of the bunnies with the white mister paints and the Dynasty Brush.  Now bunnies have a white shimmer!!

Products Used:
DecoArt Media Fluid Acrylics: Yellow Green Light
DecoArt Media Misters: Red, Yellow-Green
DecoArt Media Shimmer Misters: White, Yellow
DecoArt Media: Matt Medium
DecoArt Media: Gesso
Faber-Castell Big Brush Pitt Pens
Faber-Castell Grip 2001 Pencil
Dynasty Brushes: Black/Gold 5/0
Sponge Dabber
12x12 Paper

Here are the bunnies in the acrylic tray that we change out on holidays!  It's brighter in person - just the lights I guess!

HAPPY EASTER to those who celebrate...
and HAPPY SPRING to ALL! Xj.

Your bunnies are just delightful Joi and I love the steps you took to create them. I'm not surprised your SiL loves them, they are full of character and they give eye contact immediately. They'll be a wonderful addition to any Easter decorations xxx

They look brilliant! LOVE how you used the white shimmer to sort of give them their fur! And I bet she loved 'em....who wouldn't? Happy Easter to you and yours.... it will be here and gone before we can blink.... Rabbits are a real pest over here & they keep bringing in new virus's etc to try to control them..... it doesn't sound like you have that problem there?

Joi! You've made the most amazing abstract bunnies! I loved seeing the steps you took to make this come together, and I really think your stylized bunnies are FABULOUS! this is so cool that you can put this in a tray to change out with the seasons--when it's done doing it's appearance in the tray for Easter, it should be framed and enjoyed throughout the year! I LOVE THIS! Hugs! PS you are an amazing artist!

I just love the abstract quality of this painting! It can be used all year and isn't specific to Easter. What amazing pattern and depth you've achieved! Truly amazing and inspirational. Hugs, Autumn

Love your abstract bunnies or hares! Quite whimsical and not the "cutsie" look.
So, looks like your abstract art is becoming more and more a part of you- keep on with it- digging the style!
Happy Easter to you and your family Joi! Hope your weekend is full of family and love! xx

Oh Joi, the whimsey of these rabbits/hares is pure delight. I just want to cuddle them before they hop away. Well done, my friend! xo

Yes, I'd always go with hares rather than bunnies - I love hares! And I love these two too... they have such a gentle spirit to them. Lovely work.
