Season's Greetings BUDDY! TTCRD Magazine Design

Hello from Joi@RR!

Tis the season for...
wintery berries,
a bit of snow,
warm boots,
and
a walkin' buddy!!

This project was done on a 8 x 10 baltic birch wood panel: Savannah by Walnut Hollow.

Step by Step Instructions

I began by covering the edges of the board with masking
tape to make a defined boarder line when removed.

The board was then covered with black gesso. Why?
I have found that when working with "snow"
type paintings - the black underneath gives
a special depth and shadow to the finished piece.

After the black gesso is dry... begin adding
Shimmer Mister colors. The Misters leave such
amazing designs in the paint. Part of me wishes
I would have just left the trees undefined
as they looked below. Incredible shimmer too!

Randomly add the DecoArt Snow Writer to the trees.
This is sooooooooooooo much fun.
I use Snow Writer year round. It adds such great
dimension to any project.

After the image was totally dry,
pull off the masking tape and see your
perfectly formed edge!!!

 Add you digi image with
DecoArt Media Matt Medium.

If you have texture sand paste, it will add
lovely dimension to the fur on the boys coat.
I also used it to give texture to the chip board fence.

Here is a glance at the project about half way done!

Time to paint the child's outfit and his buddy too!
It was hard for me not to paint the dog artistically.
I began adding his coat with my liner brush
but then realized all that "lined hair" would
not end up looking like the digi image portrayed!!
I got him looking close to his image but not perfect.

The scalloped edge was painted white.
Shimmering silver rick rack was added too.

And then... it was done!

A bit of dimension.

A bit of texture.

And a wish...
"Seasons Greetings Buddy"!

After all was completed, the project was varnished
with DecoArt Media Gloss Varnish.

Would you believe that I don't even own a coat?
It just doesn't get that cold in this part of Texas.
Raised in Missouri though, I enjoyed lots of
long walks in the snow!!!  Xj.
