Gentle Criticism Nourishes Roots? Do you agree?!!!

Hello to all from Joi@RR in Texas where it is still RAINING, flooding and squishy!!!

And would you believe I have been working on a rainy day creation?  Dear me... I am surrounded by rain. We need some sunshine or at least a rainbow or two!!!!

I have to admit though... it was fun creating this journal page with showers and flowers in mind!

I used my new Dylusions paints for the first time... so that definitely brought some sunshine into the room!!!  Just open the jar and the shimmery, vibrant, bright paint makes you happy!

The sentiment has a very special meaning.  It reads:
Criticism, like rain, should be gentle enough without destroying growth to nourish roots.

The sentiment gave me the idea to put roots on my darling Dylusions Gal from the Black Sheep collection. Doesn't she look rather like she has on a mermaid type gown - ready for a party or even a ball!  The bottom of the 'gown' symbolizes nourished roots. They even sparkle with the help of eucalyptus Ranger Stickles.

The background is entirely Dylusions paints and I am very frustrated with myself because I totally forgot to take a picture of it.  The two pages in my journal add to approx. 11.5 x 16.5.

I began by randomly using Vibrant Turquoise, London Blue and Fresh Lime on the art journal pages.  At the bottom of the page I used the ghosting effect by laying down the 'shattered' stencil and spritzing with water.  It left a nice white colored pattern although it is hard to see now.  Still can't believe I forgot to take pictures.  It didn't look as much like "roots" as I had hoped so I used the stencil again to accent the lines a third time! On the top half of the pages I use Dylusions thru the 'bubble' stencil.

After I finished the background I began using Dylusions stamps on card stock.  I sure enjoyed using my Misti stamping machine to help line things up for stamping straight and thick!  I added a few circles here and there on the flowers and made the raindrops out of some of the flower petals!  The girl and the flowers are enhanced with stickles, liquid pearls, silks and pens to add some glitz!

Hope you enjoyed stopping by to see this really BRIGHT and FUN art journal creation.  Wishing you lots of sunshine in your heart even when it's not showing outside!!  Hugs. j.
