Annual Epic Big Birthday Event
Happy Second Birthday SATW!!!

Here is the decadent, celebratory mood board for May
by Helen Tilbury

So in honor of SATW's second birthday and my youngest granddaughter's birthday - it was time for a card/plaque creation. It is not really a card - it's a wooden plaque that stands on it's own. It is 8" x 12" but she calls it a 'card'. The plaque was inspired by the mood board in the following ways:
1. The color
2. The sprinkles
3. The roses.
4. The word "pretty" because this mood board is very pretty!

Plus my granddaughter is pretty too!  She loves all these colors as well as sprinkles!!!  She also requested that I put a deer on her card/plaque!  She will be six and she is a princess whose favorite subject this year in school was arachnids!!!!!!!  Oh my!!! My theory is that Grammie (that's me!) taught her at a very young age to enjoy spiders! We even name them here on the ranch.  Hey - it's better than the screams we used to get from the grandkids!!!!

Here is the card creation I made.

I gessoed the wood and then used texture paste and a floral motif stencil to begin my layers. When dry, I stamped some handwriting with black archival ink. Then begin adding Silks Acrylics in random colors - to match the mood board as nearly as possible -  over the top of the texture paste. To finish off the textures, next came Ranger Picket Fence Distress Crackle Paint.

The Front.

The Back.

Next came the embellishments. I used a gelli print from a page made earlier and fussy cut a piece to fit on a chipboard frame.

I then traced by hand a larger scallop circle, fussy cut it out of white card stock, and decorated it with "sprinkles" of liquid pearls to match the sprinkles on the mood board.  This was mounted beneath the gelli print scalloped circle.

I also had some chipboard swirls so I made them match.  Using Ranger Picket Fence distress paint, they were iced in white and sprinkled with liquid pearls.

Beneath the pink and hot pink roses are a few leaves and some lovely white organza petals.  The three butterflies were also painted with Silks Acrylics.  The roses were accented with Iced Stickles.

The "pretty" word is made from vellum by Heidi Swapp.

There is a lot of shimmer and glitz from the paint, embossing, liquid pearls and stickles.  The sides are really fun too!

I found "Let It Go" in Tim's Small Talk packet and it was perfect.  Can you guess what her very favorite movie would be???!!!!

It was a fun project and it is on the way to the little sweetie right now! Sure hoping the both my granddaughter and Scrap Around the World have a FABULOUS birthday celebration!

As always - it means so much to me that you have stopped by to see my little project.  Big hugs. j.

Pretty? Yep. Sounds like a pretty great little gal has a pretty great Grammie. Love your mixed media card. Sure she will too. Sorry, but I can't agree with you on spiders, though ;)
