Summer of Color, Red-Red-Metallic

Hello sweet creative friends.

I'm happy and excited to get to do my second project for the Summer of Color challenges.  I was a bit under the weather so got behind but soooo sooo thankful to be painting again!

This week is:
Summer of Color, Week 4 and the chosen colors are:
Red, Red, and Metallic. Click below to see this weeks colors!

Red, Red and I chose...Gold - seems like hot Summer colors - don't you think?  It was almost 100 today here in Texas.

My thought was to make a succulent flower that needs little water in the midst of a red hot summer.

Here at the ranch, right outside my studio window, are hanging baskets full of a succulent type of moss rose.  I sooo adore them.  They give me great joy every day all summer.

There are at least two types of moss rose... and one will not stand the Texas heat at all.  However the succulent type last well and the beauty of it is that the flowers are many different colors all on the same vine!  Here is a picture - see how thick the leaves are?!

Needless to say... my painting on a 16x20 canvas is not of a moss rose... it is just a desert flower in the red heat of summer.

I used the following three items from Neocolor II and Pebeo Acrylics on this painting.

I absolutely enjoy metallic paints and sparkles of any kind so this was extra fun for me. My fav combo so far for these challenges.

We have a red flower here that comes up every spring - on a single stem - just shoots out of the ground.  Most say it's a wild flower but some call it a Texas poppy.  In my mind, my gold flower looks a bit like those spring flowers... and I added a bit of root system too!

Thanks bunches for spending time with me today.
Sending you well wishes and hugs. j.
